There are different skill/detail levels of Gunpla kits available (or as Bandai refer to them 'grades').

SD (Super Deformed)
These kits are the smallest in the range. Instantly recognised by their oversized heads and body proportions, SD kits are beginner-friendly and are recommended for children. Though they are not as posable as the other grades, there is a charm to them.
SD kits are very affordable, within the price range of £7-18 and they are always great for a quick build.

EG (Entry Grade) The perfect intro to Gunpla for complete beginners. The Entry Grade line feature advanced colour separation, articulation and proportions equivalent to most High Grade kits. But due to how the parts are attached to the runners (sprues) a pair of clippers are not needed as the parts can be removed by hand. You may still choose to clip the parts for a cleaner finish - and you may also choose to remove the connecting pieces of plastic from the parts.

HG (High Grade)
These are the most commonly built kits on this list. They are easy to build, their price point is affordable (generally £18-32) and a wide variety of HG kits to choose from. These kits can easily be identified by the HG logo on the corner of the front box art. These kits have more articulation than SD units, which provide more options for poses.
HG are 1/144 scale and are the perfect size for collecting and displaying.

RG (Real Grade)
First introduced in 2010, in celebration of the then 30th Anniversary, RG kits are also 1/144 scale.
RG kits have additional details such as colour separation along with extra articulation to give more realism; they are also supplied in most cases with decals.
RG kits are great for builders who want to keep within the HG scale of 1/144 but want more out of their kit.

MG (Master Grade)
These are 1/100 scale kits with a price point between £40 - 90. Master Grade kits differ from HG with their larger size and increased detail. MG kits utilise an inner skeleton, which assists their articulation and sturdiness. MG kits have more individual parts compared to HG kits, but all pays off when the kit is finished.
MG kits are considered a firm favourite worldwide amongst Gunpla builders due to their size, detail, and poseability.

PG (Perfect Grade)
Perfect Grade (PG) are a line of Gunpla kits that even more detailed than MGs. Their 1/60 scale also makes them much larger than the MG range.
PG Kits offer an unparalleled level of detail and complexity within their price point (£200-500)

In 2020, Bandai introduced a new sub-line to the Perfect Grade (PG) level - known as Perfect Grade Unleashed, featuring kits with an even further increased complexity and diecast metal parts to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Gunpla that year.
